18650 Tabless Cell · Cycle Life Technical Note

Overview

The 18650 tabless cylindrical cell is offered in 2000mAh and 3000mAh versions, supporting continuous 15C high-rate discharge. Built around a tabless internal structure, it is designed to lower internal resistance and improve heat dissipation under high-rate operation, targeting applications that demand both high discharge rate and reliable cycle life.

Test samples and scope

• Samples: 18650 2000mAh tabless, 18650 3000mAh tabless

• Test item: Cycle life and capacity fade under 15C rate

• Source: In-house cycle life test curves (see chart below)

Results

Under the same 562-cycle condition, the capacity retention of the 2000mAh full tab cell is 87.6%, while that of the 3000mAh full tab cell is 84.6%. The former delivers better retention performance.

After the 2000mAh full tab cell is further cycled to 694 times, its capacity retention remains at 85.7%. The overall attenuation curve shows a gentle trend without obvious sharp drop.

Overall, both capacity versions exhibit stable capacity retention under 15C high-rate cycling. The 2000mAh version has certain advantages in long cycle life.
